An easy read and introduction into buddhist philosophy in a practical way. Contrary to all other major religions, this one is very open and seems to be out for personal happiness maximization, which is achieved via selflessness and compassion. The current Dalai Lama is the author’s interview partner and friend, who himself is an American psychiatrist. The book’s theme is discussions between both world views, which seem to be quite compatible with each other.
The author is presenting the Dalai Lama with a lot of loaded questions, but the reactions are always considered, kind, full of wisdom, and the discussions lead to satisfying conclusions. I took a lot of helpful advice for leading a happy life from this book, and again my note-taking took more time than the actual reading, it seemed. Such a remarkable person, the Dalai Lama.
